UV-C Telemetry Cleaning at SSM St. Mary’s: Enhancing Patient Safety

Challenge

SSM St. Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City, Missouri, prioritizes patient safety. The Central Telemetry unit was looking to enhance its existing telemetry accessory cleaning protocols to provide extra assurance that equipment was thoroughly sanitized between patients. The challenge was finding a solution that would complement their current cleaning methods and further minimize the risk of infection transmission without harsh chemicals.

Solution

SSM St. Mary’s implemented the CLEAN™, a UV-C sanitizing cabinet, for their telemetry equipment and accessories. This UV-C technology was integrated into their existing cleaning procedures, providing an additional layer of protection. The CLEAN’s UV-C light effectively disinfects surfaces by disrupting the DNA of harmful microorganisms, offering a powerful tool against a range of pathogens. The cabinet design allows for easy and efficient sanitization of multiple devices at once.

Results

The implementation of the CLEAN™ UV-C sanitizing cabinet provided SSM St. Mary’s Central Telemetry unit with increased confidence in the cleanliness of their telemetry equipment. In conjunction with their existing cleaning methods, the additional layer of protection with the CLEAN offered a more robust, streamlined approach to sanitizing multiple devices at once.

“At SSM St. Mary’s, we are always concerned for the safety of our patients. Central Telemetry was looking for an additional way to clean our telemetry and accessories before use on another patient. The UV Clean, in conjunction with our current cleaning methods, allows reassurance that our telemetry are sanitized properly.”
